Description
One-day trip to experience Japanese culture at the Wakabayashi Family, a cultural asset that needs to be preserved.
It takes about 3 hours from Tokyo by Shinkansen bullet train and local train. Murakami City is blessed with seasonal nature such as the Sea of Japan and the Asahi Mountain Range. Murakami tea, grown in the severe snow country, is known as the northernmost tea grown in Japan. The city has an interesting history. It once prospered as a castle town of the Murakami Domain, and even today, there are remnants of samurai and merchant towns in the city. It was also a port of call for Kitamae-bune (trading ships of the Edo period), and a thriving trading culture led to a flourishing ryotei (Japanese-style restaurant) culture.
In this tour, you will experience the Murakami Tea Ceremony and Japanese culture through authentic kappo cuisine using foods from the Sea of Japan and the Wakabayashi Family Residence (a National Important Cultural Property) as a special venue.
