Description
NY Central park equivalent Tokiwa park in Ube is famous for being a great open-air museum of sculpture.
This park hosts UBE Biennale International Sculpture Competition which has grown to become the world’s oldest outdoor sculpture festival and attracts entries from across Japan and around the world for over 60 years. There are approximately 100 sculptural artworks, including past winning pieces, displayed in the scenic surrounding.
These sculpture works are all touchable, you can even get on some of them, to enjoy the interaction (Please note that there are some that you can not touch).
The park itself is interesting however, having our experienced guide with you would make it a whole different experience.
During the sculpture walk, we will make a quick stop at a coal museum that is related to the coal industry that led to the prosperity of Ube city. We are sure that you will be amazed at the unique story of how these black burning rocks change Ube the art city!
