Description
2Day Trip to Experience Japanese Culture at the Wakabayashi Family, a Cultural Asset Required
Murakami City is blessed with seasonal nature such as the Sea of Japan and the Asahi Mountain Range. Murakami tea, grown in the severe snow country, is known as the northernmost tea grown in Japan. The city has an interesting history. It once prospered as a castle town of the Murakami Domain, and even today there are remnants of samurai and merchant towns in the city. As a port of call for Kitamae-bune (trading ships of the Edo period), a thriving trading culture and ryotei culture flourished.
In this program, participants will experience the Murakami Tea Ceremony and Japanese culture through authentic kappo cuisine using foods from the Sea of Japan and the Wakabayashi Family Residence (a nationally important cultural property) as a special venue.
Overnight stay will be at Senami Onsen Taikanso, facing the Sea of Japan.
