Big, but a pain to set up.
4 out of 5 stars
Big, but a pain to set up.
Ok! First of all, this tent is HUGE (big bonus). However, it is also a HUGE pain in the behind to set up (big negative). Plan to have AT LEAST 2-3 people (bummer for me because I was hoping to take my 3 kids camping by myself). It is definitely not a one person set up (kind of a 'duh' because it's so big, but one could hope). It took me, my husband AND 2 of my girls 35 minutes to set it up. It was definitely not helped by the fact that it came with ZERO instructions. (Edit: the instructions are sewn into the inside of the carrying bag. Good way to keep them handy, not so good for first time set up when the bag is sealed in a separate package from everything else. )Speaking of instructions...1. When you're putting the roof poles in, lift the roof up with the 2nd roof pole. There is no "gently flexing" the second pole. Give that big boy a good heave.2. The "pin loops"...the pin part goes into the bottom of the pole. Totally not clear on the instructions.3. Be prepared for a fight. It's a tight fit.

I bought this tent according to the high recommendation listed in the post's. I have used it 5 times during camping season and I'm impressed. Set up and take down was easy. My wife and I had this tent up in 20 minutes. You will need a second person for set up. You can do it alone but set up time will take longer. Inside of the tent is roomy and plenty of space for a small family. The tent holds well in strong winds and we survived a severe thunderstorm with no leaks. That was 5 hours of severe pouring rain. The tent has good ventilation and when windows are unzipped there is a good cross breeze that flows nicely through the tent. The only thing that gave me a little trouble was the zippers on both doors. That was an easy fix when I rubber WD40 on the zippers. This allowed the zippers to move smoothly when opening and closing doors. I am eager to go camping again as I know this tent hold well in inclement weather. For the money spent I am happy.

I really liked how easy the tent was to assemble and it seems rather durable. My only issue and the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the divider. While it does create a physical barrier, I had hoped it would zip in and that it wasn't translucent. It works ok if you are sharing a tent with family however my dogs could slide under the barrier and in the light you can see through it better than frosted glass on a shower.

We took out tent out for the first time is a 45 Mike an hour wind storm and she held up great. Set up was was a bit tedious for first time but hopefully as we go camping more it becomes simpler. The inside is very roomy enough room for three person family and puppy dog. My husband is 6 ft tall and had no problem standing up without having to bend over it all. There are two doors allowing you to get in and out as you need and the divider works great for changing and separating them the tent.

If you have set up smaller tents, then setting this up is the same thing, just heavier and bigger and takes a bit more coordination.
The included tent bag is big enough to hold the tent mostly flat, but that won't get it back into the shipping box. But like my sleeping bags, I prefer to store my tents folded with a little fluff to them.

First weekend out it rained, and thunder stormed. I did not apply any seam sealer or rain proofing and I stayed dry!

It swallows a queen size mattress with room to spare! sorry for crappy night time picture.

Just popped this baby up tonight for a weekend of camping. Basically looks as described very spacious I have two queen size air mattress inside and plenty of walk room all around. Easy to assemble took around 10 minutes. The only thing I wish was different was the zipper. You have to zip it all the way around and across the bottom of the entry. The white flaps get in the way and can get zipped up and stuck it not careful
Other than that great purchase lovely color and pleased.
