From the manufacturer

It all began when we created the portable, gas-powered lantern that illuminated the first evening football game west of the Mississippi. In WWII, our camping stoves transformed the way soldiers ate in the field. We continued to revolutionize the outdoors with our cooler manufacturing in the 1950s, and in the decades that followed we added tents, sleeping bags, lighting, and more.

After 120 years, Coleman gear is everywhere you are: on the trail, by the lake, at a tailgate, or in the middle of a music festival. We're always around a place where there are friends, coolers, and campfires. So, grab a tent, fire up a grill, and pull up a chair. The Outside Is Calling. Answer it.

Product Description

The Coleman 6-Person Dark Room Fast Pitch Dome Tent blocks 90% of sunlight so families can put the kids to bed early. Dark Room technology reduces temperatures in your tent, letting your group enjoy a comfortable night's sleep and leaving you refreshed for the next day's adventure. If it rains, the WeatherTec system helps you stay dry thanks to a tub-like floor with patented corner welds and inverted seams designed to keep water out. With the included rainfly attached, extended awnings over the windows allow for improved air circulation without letting in rain. Meanwhile, a strong frame tested to withstand 35+ mph winds and rugged Polyguard 2x double-thick fabric mean this tent is designed to last season after season. Set up in minutes thanks to the simple Fast Pitch system with pre-attached poles and hub, fast fit feet, and snag-free Insta-Clip suspension. Illumiline reflective guy lines provide better visibility at night so you don't get tripped up if you need to take a walk in the dark. Inside, comfortably stretch out with room to fit 2 queen-size airbeds, neatly stash small items in mesh storage pockets sewn into the walls, and conveniently bring in electrical power with the E-Port feature. When it's time to head home, the tent easily packs up into an expandable carrying bag until you're off on your next adventure.

Just okay
I am a Coleman fan. I have used many of their tents over the years. This one is just okay. I am mostly concerned with the false advertising. I think that's beneath them. This tent is NOT total dark room. It's only dark room tech in the upper portion. As you can see from the photo the lower half of the tent is just the regular tent fabric and the amount of light is very obvious, and this is in a dim basement. With that said, I can easily see having the upper portion dark could really help with people like me who love to camp but struggle with the amount of daylight that comes through in very early morning or at nap time, but it is NOT full dark room tech.I am also very concerned about the "hub" connection at the top; maybe a great idea but seems very fragile to me. I think they would have been better off using decent, stronger poles, and keeping it a regular dome tent set up, which is a super easy style tent to set up. The poles seem weak. Make sure you have set each connection well into it's socket, and take set-up slow and easy. The verdict is out whether I will keep this tent or not.

Other reviewers said this is hard to set up? I think this is the easiest tent to set up that I have ever used. Instead of getting on your hands and knees and trying to slide poles through the slots in the fabric, you make a standing frame work of the poles and pull the tent up to the frame and clip it on. It took me and my brother about 5 minutes to set it up top included the first time!

This is a very nice tent! Being a seasoned camper was always curious about darkroom technology by Coleman. Very easy to set up, very roomy.

I am on the fence about this tent. I bought it on sale last fall, but only had a chance to use it for the first time this week.
It is similar in design to another Coleman tent I own, so pitching it was fairly straight-forward. One thing I did not care for was the method of attaching the top of the tent to the pole hub. My other tent uses two fabric ties, which allows you to attach the tent to the hub with a simple shoe knot. The new tent uses a fastener similar to the button-and-loop device used to secure a rolled up window flap. It's awkward to attach, and even more of a pain during tear down. The original design wasn't broke ... why fix it?
The darkroom aspect will take some getting use to. I didn't realize how much I enjoyed the ambient starlight/moonlight that fills the tent at night. With this tent, nighttime is dark. Real dark. The design does make a heck of a difference during the day. The interior temperature was not too bad. (As noted in other reviews, the darkroom technology only covers the section of the tent covered by the rain fly. Light still shines through on the bottom 18" or so, allowing enough light in to be able to function in the tent.
When I broke camp, getting the tent, rain fly and poles into the bag was impossible. I was only able to fit the tent. The tear-away strip Coleman includes at the bottom of the bag didn't really seem to make the bag any more roomy. However, when I came home and aired everything out, for some reason, everything fit perfectly.
One improvement over past Colemans i have owned - the door zipper seems to be upgraded. Better construction and easier to zip.
Generally, I like the tent. I just wish they would have left the method of securing the tent to the pole hub alone. It worked just fine.

    PROS
    Ease of pitch
    Daytime temperature control
    Size
    Construction
    Door zippers

    CONS
    Top fastener
    No ambient light at night

Great tent, easy setup. Darkroom tech is nice if you like to sleep in the morning. Keep it off if you want to see the stars.

Question- does anyone know the length of the pole that goes throw the top for the cover? I lost ours.

Bought this tent for a cross country PCS. Upon the third use, the stretchy cord inside the poles for both the tent walls and rainfly distingrated rending the tent useless without repair. I also noticed tiny bits of light coming through the raintfly and walls. If light can come through, so can water.
